Aaron set up a barber shop and Caleb was his victim ...

Happy Birthday Aaron

Aaron's 4th birthday was yesterday. So hard to believe it was 4 years ago that he was born - he rocked our world and now it is hard to remember what life was like before kids. Aaron is a very smart, fun boy who loves his baby brother. He is a such good kid - never gets in trouble (outside home), always of thinks others and we couldn't ask for anything more. He has a remarkable memory, can build things and that I can't, is great at puzzles, and has an imagination better than I ever did. I never really looked forward to this "little boy" age, I was fine with baby, didn't want him to grow up, and now each new year is so fun that we can't wait to see what's in store for him and us. Every age has been our new favorite age and I have no doubt 4 will be too! Happy birthday Aaron!

Aaron got to pick whatever he wanted for his birthday breakfast. He remember what I had on my birthday so blueberry Belgian waffle with a candle it was!

Our family tradition is to have your presents waiting at the breakfast table for you. He was very excited and said - "Is today my birthday???? Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Very excited to get "Helper Hook Kevin" from Caleb!

Loved his Dino book from Uncle Cory!

That night both sets of grandparents came over for cupcakes and to give their gifts. My parents got Aaron his fish lamp. He has liked them for years and my mom has really been wanting to get him a pet. This was my "compromise." Hard to say who liked it more - Aaron or Caleb! They also got him his much requested "pick-up truck with a dog like Gus in it."

While trying to take pics of Aaron, Caleb got right in front of the camera and said, "Cheese!!!!"Aaron loved his Little People A-Z Zoo set from Nana & Poppa - he'd been asking for since playing with at a friend's house this summer.

Race Day

Today I had the privledge of cheering on one of my very best friends in the whole world, Crystal, in her first marathon. What an experience! And what an amazing thing for ANYONE to cross the finish line after HOURS and HOURS of running. Crystal running the race was especially sweet and emotional to watch as I thought back to seven years ago when the only walking she did was when the nurses allowed her to walk the halls at MD Anderson. She ran today in celebration of being cancer-free for seven years! Praise the Lord! You can read her awesome story at: http://pages.teamintraining.org/ntx/rnrsa09/victory.

Sweet Brothers

Our Saturday morning started off rough with Caleb. He woke up about 5:00am very unhappy and would not settle back down. We resorted to watching cartoons and thought he would snuggle and at least let me me snooze if anything, but he still just kept on crying. And crying he did for the next 3 hours until Big Brother woke up. Caleb smiled at Aaron, went to lay down by him on the couch while Aaron watched cartoons, relaxed completely and was sound asleep within a few minutes. After they snuggled a while, Scott successfully transferred Caleb to his crib where he slept 2 hours (I REALLY hope he takes an afternoon nap). Aaron was not happy with that though and got all sad, and said, "Mommy, I feel bad without Caleb. Why did Daddy take him away." Such a sweet big brother!

PS: Caleb woke up from his nap, ate a HUGE breakfast and has been full of spunk ever since - not sure what the crying episode was about...

Update: Caleb's right ear has started draining "junk" so mystery solved. This will be his first ear infection since getting tubes back in May - a vast improvement on how it was before. And it's really nice that I now know exactly what the problem is and which ear without having to guess about whether he needs to go to the dr. - we'll be there on Monday... it would figure it's a Saturday.

PLC

(Blantanly stolen and adapted from the Heston's blog - thanks!). Two our friends from college and then onto newlywed days in Waco, Jeremy and Jessica Courtney are currently living in Iraq. They started an organization there that raises money to pay for children in Iraq to receive life-saving heart surgeries through an organization called the Pre-emptive Love Coalition. God is using them in amazing ways, and I am honored to know them and to be able to hear about the amazing things God is doing through their ministry in such a war-torn country.
Please take a minute to look through their website, http://preemptivelove.org/.
Read through some of the amazing stories of the children who have been saved and the way God is moving there.
The video on the website is amazing - a little graphic for my weak stomach but still amazing. It is a look into an actual heart surgery performed on one of the children. Seeing it all reminds us just how much God is able and desires to use us all to grow His kingdom!! Thank you, Jeremy and Jessica, for your obedience. It is motivating!!

More Halloween

What a fun weekend! This Halloween was the most fun we have had since parenthood - Aaron REALLY got into it all this year! We weren't sure how much he would care to do given his stranger anxiety but he surprised us and had a good 'ol time. He actually did his first real trick & treating and also handed out candy at our house He gave BIG handfuls of candy out (on my orders - we still have too much left that I keep eating!) and would say "I made them so happy!!!" Fun times. The boys were cute as could be too.
Caleb the Giraffe and Aaron the Zoo Keeper (with a gun). Nana made the vest for Aaron and he thought it was great.
Caleb thought he was big stuff when he stole the zookeeper' gun!
So funny - Caleb went missing for a minute at Harvest Fest - this where we found him!
Cousins - they had a lot of fun together.

Walking the neighborhood with Nana.
